Following a Proven Model
Chipotle Mexican Grill is a restaurant founded in 1993 by Steve Ells. Ells was a recent college graduate who decided to attend culinary school and become a chef. After several years of working at restaurants in San Francisco, Ells moved to Colorado and opened the first Chipotle. At first, Ells only wanted to open one restaurant, let it grow for a while, and then move on to a full service restaurant. Chipotle follows the model of a taqueria or burrito shop, with fast, freshly prepared food using local ingredients and a minimum of floor space. It is not a full service restaurant. But by the time Ells opened his second Chipotle, the restaurant was so successful that he decided to focus all his efforts and resources into it. Over the years, Chipotle has grown from one store into a large chain with over 2,000 locations in five countries. Chipotle’s growth provides one example of a csr corporate social responsibility definition.
A Different Purpose and Vision
Chipotle has a purpose of serving food with integrity. Chipotle states this is their commitment to finding the very best ingredients raised with respect for the animals, the environment and the farmers. The focus on people, the environment, and economic outcomes means Chipotle is a triple bottom line company.
What does Chipotle’s csr corporate social responsibility definition look like in practice? The difference begins with the ingredients the restaurant uses. Their sour cream and cheese is made from milk that contains no bovine growth hormone. Chipotle sources at least a third of one produce item from small and midsize local farms. About a third of the restaurant’s black and pinto beans are organically grown. Much of its beef, chicken, and pork are naturally and humanely raised. This is especially important to Ells, who says he did not want the confinement of animals to be part of Chipotle’s business model.
Chipotle Mexican Grill provides a great csr corporate social responsibility definition. Its founder Steve Ells had a vision for a clean, sustainable, appealing restaurant based on the taqueria model. After over twenty years in business, the company continues to make decisions according to Ells’s guiding vision and desire to be a different kind of burrito shop.
Chipotle Story – How it All Started – Steve Ells tells us how he started Chipotle while also showing people how to cook in his restaurant, showing. He tells us about the inspiration and how he used what he learned in cooking school to open a fast food restaurant.
Unneces-scary – A woman walks into a restaurant and is dismayed by the artificial ingredients that make up the entirety of the food served. She then learn that she didn’t walk into Chipotle, but Cheapotle, and then realizes that the worst of this is yet to come with a long line of servers yet to add artificial ingredients.
